Yeah I was gonna try and index just so that most of the time consuming object categorization could at least be done, shame it's in .ebo. Very much looking forward to seeing Tanoa lit up with ALiVE!
Congrats guys! Will be awesome to see where this goes in the future!
Ugh. Just once i'd like these things to work first time without me having to find some bizarre workaround due to some sort of wizardry going on. I miss windowsXP. Shall investigate.
EDIT: Somehow managed to end up with a corrupted version of Jbad, working now. Map looks amazing but that is a TONNE of objects. May take a while. And no idea how it'll cope performance-wise. But hey, only one way to find out.
Okay... So I couldn't resist and had to at least have a look at the map but I'm getting "addon DYA requires jbad_Structures" and then crash to desktop. I definitely have the most recent version of jbad and CBA and got the map download from armaholic. And the pbo in question matches in terms of the exact name of it. Anyone else having this issue by any chance?
I'm pretty slammed today and tomorrow and haven't actually had a chance to look at it other than the screengrabs on armaholic but if it's as awesome as it looks I'll definitely look at trying to index it by the end of the week!
Agreed! Very cool to get a wee look behind the scenes :)
Most of my playtime is spent doing recon style stuff. Generally if you focus on a location that's likely to have traffic then the movement speed isn't as much of a factor. For example, if you're observing a military base, as well as anyone occupying it, the chances are units will show up at some point. Same deal with main roads. If vehicles are going to move through an area when ALiVE spawns them in they'll move to the nearest road and move along that... Where you will be waiting. With binoculars. And lotsa lotsa boom boom. I do tend to use either 50% or 75% though just because I prefer that pace. Otherwise after a few hours of playing an AI commander can just take over the world it seems!
Yeah, I have time set to x3 just through the editor controls and seems to work just fine! As far as I know all it does is speed up the clock and nothing else is affected. Don't think there are many features that work based on in-game time, save for the times that civilians are more active and small things like that. Definitely a good way to add some variety in your missions!
Have a look at the file it's pointing to (no idea if it's binarized or not) away from PC or i'd check haha, sounds like a syntax error. Could be an array that hasn't been closed or something?
Yeah. I've found that AI tend to only want to use one side of the airstrip so trial and error seems to be the only way to figure out the best place. Which may vary due to different aircraft requiring different lengths of runway or something like that? Not sure. As Savage said, a lot of the time finding the lane they use to taxi is a good way to do it, takes them longer to take off but they seem to be able to taxi better than they can awkwardly edge themselves onto a runway.
