ALiVE Config File - hosted server

  1. 9 years ago

    Hi there
Firstly Awesome mod, I'm loving it! Secondly I have it running well on my hosted server, with everything running as advertised except the database. Is it possible to set up the ALiVE config file to access the WarRoom on a hosted server running Linux? I don't have ftp access beyond the customer folder on the server.
    Cheers

We only support Windows OS at the moment.

  3. No worries thanks for the effort, save me scratching my head trying to figure it out. Pity the config can't be in the mod folder. Keep up the great work. Really appreciate it . Donation coming you're way.

The config can be placed in the A3 game root folder, but as Tupolov says our warroom connection DLL's only run on windows environments.

  5. :( this is very sad as a very large number of game servers are hosted on linux... Ours included, any idea when linux support will be made available.

    Hi lucidity,

Yep we are still working on a solution to the linux version of our data plugins. Unfortunately most of the team are not experienced Linux devs so support for Linux server is taking longer than expected.

  7. Good to hear, from what i know coming from Epoch on linux the devs there used python i believe to mimick the inidb for database writes, not sure if that helps yah much at all i have some decent experience with mysql / php and some limited python / perl experience not sure if i could help or not but id be glad to try :)

  8. Just bumping this up again ARjay, with the new @AliveServer folder and command line switch in .90 does this now allow Linux servers to connect to the war room? I've set it up but when as per the instructions but I gather not having the .net framework on the Linux server will prevent it from working? If I enable the mod. The game fails to load after launching from the lobby. I assume this is why as the database module stalls at the communications phase?

Btw I really live where this is going even non persistent leaving the server rolling gives us hours of carnage. Awesome! And thanks.

Also anyone know a site hosting arma servers on windows? It would be worth switching to get war room running.

We don't support Linux yet. One of our devs was working in converting aliveServer to Linux, but school has got in the way.

We are planning on getting alive (without aliveServer) working on Linux and then once our dev is back convert your plugin to Linux.

Alternatively we may do a quick fix to get our aliveServer running on Mono on Linux. However, the Linux community didn't like this idea.

We use Hetzner for our alive war room server. I'm sure others will have recommendations on windows servers. Or of course simply use a PC at home to host he arma server.

  10. Cheers

Looking forward to it, don't take any of the above a criticism, I totally rate your efforts. Just ran the best recon patrol which turned into 1 hour of CAS, then a reinforced assault on LZ Connor culminating with a defence of the objective against a counter attack. Probably the most realistic 3 hours of gameplay I've ever experienced! Awesome!

    Keep it up
