Persistence not working

  1. 7 years ago

This bug has really gotten on my nerves. My group is trying to setup the perfect ALiVE mission using persistance, and for some reason it's not working. I use TADST to startup the server and everytime I check I get an error that ALiVE can't find the server.cfg file. I don't even know if that's the problem, though. The server with database enabled always loads and I'm in game but I'm stuck on a map screen. Help me please.

I really don't know how to read these rpt files but I do use TADST without issues. Is alive.cfg in your Arma 3 root folder (default location program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma3)?

    And is TADST.exe there too?

  3. Yes. Both TADST and the ALiVE.cfg file is in the root. In the log it says it's looking for the cfg file in %appdata% but I don't know why.

  4. Also, and again I don't know how to read these rpts so probably irrelevant because you state there is a stated error about the cfg file, but my experience is when you get stuck on the map screen, some dependency is either missing on the server, or out of date on the server.

I'd personally make a new profile in TADST and add all the mods to the server again just to be sure.

I'd also try a totally vanilla mission with CBA ALiVE only and CBA ALiVE and @aliveserver on the server only just to rule mods out.

@Carmine39 Yes. Both TADST and the ALiVE.cfg file is in the root. In the log it says it's looking for the cfg file in %appdata% but I don't know why.

Interesting. I don't pretend to know the checks ALiVE and TADST look for. Obvioulsy the cfg file for the sever needs to be found for this all to work. Dumb question but in your TADST folder, is your profile in there? Inside your profile folder which is inside your TADST folder should be the profile server.cfg if I recall (been awhile since I checked so don't quote me).

Again I'd try a vanilla mission with a brand spanking new profile in TADST just to rule these out.

  6. I will, just don't see how a mod would affect a config file.

  7. Right. I get it. This would frustrate me too. I'm just trying to see if the cfg file is actually even in there.

Like I said, pretty sure inside the TADST folder is a list of your various profile folders. Then, inside each profile folder, *should* (if I remember correctly) contain that profile's respective cfg file.

This is the file I think the error is saying can't be found.

Ignore that error, it doesn't matter or affect the mod.

Ok in which case I think the issue is an out of date or missing mod on the server.

Can you try a vanilla mission on a fresh profile please?

  10. So @Tupolov, why isn't any of my data showing up in war room? Also, the mission just isn't loading at all. Without the database module, it loads just fine. We have a mixture of big/small TAOR's and civ and mil objectives, don't know why the database would stop it from loading.

  11. I'd try download aliveserver again if it isn't loading with the data module.

  12. What I mean is, I'm in game, I hear the surrounding environment and my footsteps and stuff, it's just that the map screen is over my screen. And the log files show that the database is still initializing and sending data when the server is long finished.

  13. Can you try grabbing @aliveserver from the main download here? http://alivemod.com/

I'm sure this is something relatively simple since the mission is loading correctly without the data module. We'll figure it out. Persevere! :)

  14. Done. The problem still persists. Thanks for the support though. We will be victorious!

  15. I don't know man. I'd still like to see if a totally vanilla mission with data loads for you. I'm not talking something elaborate here. Just a player and the required modules and ALiVE, CBA (and @aliveserver on the server) only.

  16. Still need help on this. Will try the vanilla idea though and report back.

Validate with something like Quick Start mission (as per the war room instructions). Please do that first.

Getting stuck on the map loading screen is usually some kind of data corruption. We'll need the server.rpt, mission and aliveplugin.log. Can sometimes be down to special characters being used in player names, mission names etc.

    Okay. On it.

I quit the mission after about 9 or so minutes. I get past the map screen, click continue, it loads alittle, and I'm stuck at a loading map screen where I can hear myself and my surroundings in game. I thank anyone taking time out of their day to look at these if they do. Any help is much appreciated.

This is happening on Vanilla too?

Looks like Isla Duala is broken with ALiVE from your RPT
