AI Skill Abilities?

    Hello,

Could someone clear up what the two ABILITY fields in the AI Skill module do? The defaults I think are set for minimum 0.20 and maximum 0.25. Do these have an effect on the AI skills and how?

    Thanks,

    StoneComet

Military AI Skill Provides a feature to define AI Skill as per the BI Wiki. Note: this may conflict with other third party addons that affect AI Skill.

I'm guessing the wiki is referring to this .

Thanks for the reply. I understand what all the sub-skill fields do in the ALiVE AI Skill module what I am referring to are the two top fields labelled Max Ability and Min Ability which are defaulted at 0.20 and 0.25 the only thing I can find on the BIS forums are that these data fields in the game are placeholders for future development.
My question is: Do the ALiVE dev team know if anything has changed here and what those fields entries do to AI Skills and behaviors?

  4. I'm guessing that means it generates a random skill for each unit between those two specified numbers. For example, if you put .2 as the minimum ability and .4 as the max, it might generate one unit with a .3 skill rating and another with a .25. I am only speculating here but I can't really think of anything else it would do.

  5. Yeah, I was hoping it would create a range that affects the sub-skills up or down depending. Aynone out there that has the capabilities to really test this please report here. I'll do my own testing as well. I've done some but it's really hard to tell if there is any affect at all.

    Thanks

  6. I think Spyder is correct it adds some random variation to the skills of each unit. Don't know if I've ever used the AI skill module in a mission (shhhh...don't tell the devs) as I normally run @ASR_AI to handle that stuff.

  7. I believe devs recommend ASR AI or other mods similar to it.

VComAI and bCombat are the other two I've seen. I Personally love ASR.

  9. It might actually be this: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/CfgAISkill

Why hasn't a dev weighed in on this subject?

  10. That besides, if it is the range array for CfgAISkill, it would appear to me that min and max are the initial inputs that define the range, then for each custom value of the sub-skills listed below would be used to return the interpolated number.

The combination of Savage and my answers was pretty close is probably why. Give it a minimum, give it maximum, and it returns a number in between.
